NeilCertificateIn a ceremony held on the 29th April 2021 in Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, Neil was awareded the Royal Society Te Apārangi Fellowship, together with 26 other researchers who have been recognised by their outstanding achievements in advancements in science, technology or the humanities.

Being awarded by the RSNZ as a Fellow is "an honour that recognises distinction in research, scholarship or the advancement of knowledge at the highest international standards".
