Our dear Dr Alana Alexander has been recognised for her outstanding work with postgraduate students by being awarded OUSA (Otago University Students' Association) New Supervisor of the Year, at a ceremony held at the Staff Club on 24th of November. She was also named divisional winner for Health Scienes.

Alana started supervising students in 2018, and is described by them as a supervisor who promotes diversity and fosters a supportive environment for everyone. Her inclusiveness, reliability, dedication, and patience have had a huge impact on her students, and Alana is dedicated to helping them to find their own path.

The OUSA New Supervisor of the Year is one of the two highest supervisor awards across the university, and both were awarded to Māori academics this year; Alana is of Ngāpuhi: Te Hikutu descent.

You can read more about Alana's success on the Otago Bulletin Board and in this article in the Otago Daily Times

Well done, Alana! Very well-deserved!
